Meeting Structure

Meetings are peer-led, flexible, and designed to keep participants safe.

  • Meetings are held on Zoom or other virtual platform (TBA).
  • Meetings are free.
  • Meetings are peer led, following a script and guidelines set by group conscience. The script providing the structure for each group allows for non-hierarchical leadership structure, where any participant can volunteer to lead.
  • Meeting activity examples (exact meeting format will vary based on day):
    • sharing of milestones (daily steps we have taken towards recovery, things we celebrate, what we are doing right)
    • group reading of recovery-based material – edited/adapted if necessary to align with group values: no homophobia/transphobia, trauma-informed, size neutrality/HAES aligned.
    • time to respond to writing/journaling prompt – check out blog for journaling and reflection prompts posted ahead of time that you can do alongside us or on your own.
    • time to share on reading, journaling prompt or other recovery topic.
    • time to share contact information with other participants if desired
    • after meeting for more informal chat so we can build community and get to know each other.
  • To keep all participants safe and focused on positive change, we share with the following guidance in mind:
    • No cross-talk (directly addressing another participant’s shares by offering advice)
    • No discussion of numbers like weight, calories, size. Avoid discussion of specific foods or diets, conscious efforts to control body shape/size, or other details that may be triggering to others.
    • Avoid detailed discussion of traumatic experiences. While these are important conversations, we cannot offer professional support and some members may find this overwhelming.
